Some say I'm an overnight success. Well, that was a very long night that lasted about 10 years. - Kate Morton
If you feel discouraged, please don’t give up without a fight of faith. Nothing worthwhile ever happens without a high degree of marathonic endurance, diligence, persistence and reinvigorated-laser focus.
Someone once said, "When God wants to make a mushroom, he takes six hours, but when he wants to make an oak tree, he takes 60 years." It really does take time.
When an artist creates a sculpture, he has to keep chipping away patiently. He doesn’t hit the chisel with the hammer just once, and suddenly all the excess stone falls away revealing a beautiful masterpiece. Oh no, it doesn't work that way! He has to keep hitting it and hitting it, and chipping away at the stone - step by step.
It's the same principle with everything worthwhile you can think of in life. I call this principle the "Natural Model of Sustainability." For the race of life is not to the swift, nor battle to the strong. I have seen even the so-called wisest or smartest of men beg for bread.
Thus, you must be patient. Refuse to be driven into the many wrong paths of "quick success" or better still, the "get-rich-quick-schemes." It's useless and unproductive. It's not worth it! Going that way is a journey in futility. It leads nowhere except trouble, penury, backwardness and destruction. And you know what? It's imperative that we have a far higher level of moral standing than condescending that low. You can't warm your hands by burning your fingers, my friend.
The way to the "top" is neither swift nor without its hurdles. So we must go steady. Success has less to do with speed anyway but more to do with timing and direction. The idea is doing the right thing at the right time. And if you are on the right trajectory, all you need do is to keep moving forward in that direction. Stay the course!
Anyone who wants to sell you overnight success or wealth is not interested at all in the quality of the outcomes of your life's journey because in reality, everything worthwhile in life takes time - whether as a student, employee, entrepreneur or businessperson, married or even single, you name it. Perseverance is an essential attribute in the arena of greatness and extraordinary achievements.
All you need do is to keep moving forward with confidence despite the odds. Have faith in your own resilience, the ability to recoup from "failure" or any "set-back" and move on to new challenges. You've got to keep going understanding this: Never overestimate what you can achieve in one year OR underestimate what you can achieve in 10 years. You must plan well (and on time too) and be on the GO as some things take time. And if you stay steady and keep working at it, you'll surely deliver upon your projected milestones and visions.
To your continued success. God bless. #FutureNow
My dad told me, 'It takes fifteen years to be an overnight success', and it took me seventeen and a half years. - Adrien Brody
